if you do i would really put it in a tub or something big and really rinse it really really good.
i think simple green really meant for other cleaning projects. but if you are really careful i dont see why not. it is really what you feel is safe for your ferret.

simple green is supposed to be a natural , non-corrosive and biodegradable product. How ever, these are the safety precautions listed on the bottle, so I would say, stick with vinegar and water.

SYMPTOMS OF OVEREXPOSURE AND FIRST AID TREATMENT
Eye contact: Reddening may develop. Immediately rinse the eye with large quantities of cool water; continue 10-15
minutes or until the material has been removed; be sure to remove contact lenses, if present, and to lift
upper and lower lids during rinsing. Get medical attention if irritation persists.
Skin contact: Minimal effects, if any; rinse skin with water, rinse shoes and launder clothing before reuse. Reversible
reddening may occur in some dermal-sensitive users; thoroughly rinse area and get medical attention if
reaction persists.
Swallowing: Essentially non-toxic. Give several glasses of water to dilute; do not induce vomiting. If stomach upset
occurs, consult physician.
Inhalation: Non-toxic. Exposures to concentrate-mist may cause mild irritation of nasal passages or throat;
remove to fresh air. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

NO!!! To harsh... only use soapy water or a cleaner that is especially for use around pets... they have a few at pet stores.. Soapy water is the best... if your ferrets do ingest any of it, the most that will happen is that they will get diarrhea..

I use clorax cleanup on my ferret's cage, I'd be a little worried about Simple Green because of the scent but if you rinse it out and dry it out really well I don't see it being a problem.

I wouldn't use simple green it has harsh chemicals in it
we use plain old dawn dish soap on all hamster cages here
and have never had a problem.

You can try Imus' "Greening the Cleaning" They use it in hospitals and schools so if it's safe for people it should be safe for animals too. Plus all proceeds go to his children's cancer fund. You can buy it at linens and things
