Explorer.exe is an integral part of Windows, don't even think about trying to delete it! Check this link to Microsoft for a download patch if you are running Windows XP. There is a similar patch for Windows 2000. Search Microsoft for it.

If this does not fix the problem, you may have to reinstall Windows.

explorer.exe (Windows Explorer - the file manager) is a central part of your operating system; without it Windows will not work.
iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer - web browser) is a different program. If you're having problems, simply rename it to iexplore.bak, or something, to see what happens.
