I'm highly consitering getting a video ipod, but I have a few questions. First, if you have a DVD that you want to put on your ipod, how do you do that? Second, What are the pros and cons to the ipod?
Just trying to do some research in it before I spend all of that money:)

i got an Ipod video last christmas. they're great. Pros- you get to put videos and stuff...a lot of storage room. the only real bad thing i have to say about it is that watching videos wastes a lot of battery, so u have to charge it and watch it if you're watching a long movie. as far as getting the movie. you have to fist download the movie you want, and then convert it to mp4. to do that just go to google and type in ipod video converter. download the thing and ur good to go. i personally like it, i dont really watch that many videos unless im reeealy bored. but yeh u should definetley get one

I have a 30 gb ipod that I think was worth the money. To get DVD's on it, you have to install a program that converts it to the ipod format so it can play on the ipod. This can be time consuming, so you can also buy movies on iTunes. I personally haven't bothered with this, because if I have the DVD, then I can just watch it on TV on a bigger screen. I guess it would be useful though if you go on long car rides a lot.
pros - good video quality, free vid podcasts
cons - playing video is battery consuming, I would suggest getting an iHome, they charge your battery while playing your ipod. I plug my ipod into it every night, and haven't yet run out of battery during the day.

I hate to say this, but you can't upload a DVD onto an iPod the same way you upload CDs. The software to convert DVDs is time-consuming and expensive. You can buy movies from iTunes, though. iPods don't store music in the most space-conscience way; other mp3 players can store more music in less space. However, since Apple controls the majority of of the industry, it's easy to get help, since many people own iPods.

I have a 60 gig video ipod. You should definately get one, they are worth the money. It's easy to rip cds and dvds to it. All you have to do is hook up your ipod, put in the cd and hit "rip". It's that simple. You can't rip a dvd to it, though. You either have to download it from itunes or from somewhere else like limewire, just make sure it is mp4 or mpeg format.

well to get ur dvds on ur com. u should get divx.(i think) ipods are a big thing and is prolly the most popular mp3 player in the world. they are actually pretty good. just think-why would there be advertisements everywhere for ipods if they werent good.
