Substitute three numbers for "x" and solve for their corresponding "y" values. Each "x" value and the "y" value determined by substituting the "x" value are an ordered pair. After you have solved for the "y" values corresponding to each of the three "x" values, you will have three ordered pairs. The way of expressing an ordered pair as variables is as follows: "(x,y)". To express each of the three ordered pairs in numbers, simply substitute the numbers you determined from the formula for "x" and "y". For example, one ordered pair numerically expressed for the given formula is (1, -3). If you can figure out how I got that ordered pair, you can figure out two others on your own by imitating me.

This is a straight line that forms 45o and pass through the point (0,-4).

y = x - 4

Just calculate a couple of values, and graphic them.

ie: if x = 0, then y = - 4, as I said before

If x = 1, then y = -3, etc
