I don't think that watching TV and going on the computer for long periods of time really damage your eyesight. I am on the computer and watching TV a lot for long periods of time during the day. If she does say something like "i told you to stop watching TV so long" or "I told you to not spend hours on that computer" just go a long with say yeah your right I'm sorry and end the conversation. It's not a big deal after all tons of people wear glasses.

If your mother is a good mother she will understand that you're having trouble seeing and she'll take you to the eye doctor. Watching TV for extended periods of time or even sitting "too close" will not ruin your eyes. While sitting in front of the computer will strain your eyes it is probably not the main reason that you need glasses. It is definately important to ask your mom to take you to get your eyes checked. If you feel uncomfortable talk to your school nurse and tell her that you're having trouble seeing. She might call your mom or write her a letter asking you to get your eyes checked. Good luck and make sure you go to the eye doctor.

who told you guys that the tv/ commputer monitor doesnt damage your eye sight? I read that they do effect your eyes....My eye doctor said the same thing. Where do did you get your information from?

She said take breakes from your Monitor for about 15 min and try to focus on things far away. This helps reduce any strain on the eyes.

I would tell my mom "Mom, i think i need glasses". If you havent got your license yet get yourself prepared for a public eye exam at the DMV, good luck.

Wow, simply tell her that when you are in class it's very embarassing to have to stand up and walk to the board to see what the teacher has written. Also, tell her that watching TV or spending hours on the computer does not make your vision worse (it's a myth)

Bump into her once in a while. Let her see you reading - a book - with the pages about four or five inches from your face. Sooner rather than later she will think glasses are her idea. You'll just have to face the criticism for a while.

Say to her:
When when it the conundrum of earth collides tomorrow, where will you not be? Thats was the easiest way I could think of to tell my mom I needed glasses, I had glasses an hour later

Have her take you to get an eye exam. Also, maybe have the doctor explain to her what causes near- or far-sightedness. I'm not an expert, but I don't believe that TV and computers are the only or primary cause of eye problems.

Okay, it may sound simple, but just tell her. Maybe do some research first. Sometimes it's not just the watching TV or being on the computer that makes your eye sight bad.

Tell her your eyes are bothering you and you want to make sure everything is ok. If she throws one of the two phrases mentioned up at you, tell her to let the doctor decide that tv. and / or the computer caused the problem (s) you're having with your eyes.

Just squirm your eyes when your are with her. But still you cannot beat the fact that she is going to nag you about it

"i told you to stop watching t.v. so long"
or
"I told you to not spend hours on that computer"

You should have taken care of your own eyes. They are your responsiblity. you cant blame her for nagging u.
