If I am called an imbecile just because I am not muslim I would find that to be flattering.
Also if they call me an imbecile out of hate are they not committing a hate crime?

Are you George Bush in disguise? He's the only one I call imbecile. I knew you would figure it out eventually!

Interestingly enough I have been called everything from sheep to idiot, but not imbecile. I would say that my reaction would be relative to who is doing the name calling. Generally speaking I take no notice of this behavior. The simple fact is that many people lack the ability to debate intelligently. When challenged these people fall back on base emotions and self defense mechanisms. These emotions tell them that their only defense against reason is to discredit. I usually attempt to take the highroad in any exchange whenever possible. Usually if someone takes the time to try and attack me personally I just take pride in the fact that I have struck a nerve. So the answer to should you be insulted really comes down to how strong your ego is, but my answer is never give them the satisfaction of knowing they can get to you.

Imbecile by definition
1. A Stupid or silly person
2. A person whose mental acumen is well below par.
3. A person of moderate to sever mental retardation having a mental age of from three to seven years and generally being capable of some degree of communication and performance of simple tasks under supervision.

There is your definition of the word. Many people that insult another are just not secure in themselves in what they choose to be. I wouldn't give it a second thought because they are showing their insecurities by trying to bully you!!

If someone you respect calls you and imbecile you might wish to review your conduct but otherwise
It would be a compliment if a loser calls you that.

Being called names because you don't agree with someone is called an ad hominem attack. It's the first line of defense for those who cannot use intelligent reasoning to support their position. In most debates name calling is an automatic disqualification. The one who engages in name calling is declared the loser.

So, some loser called you a name. Laugh it off.

Just ignore them dear friend.
You know, muslims are the most racist people on earth. In fact "people" is not the right word!

They commit many more crimes more serious than that and most often go unpunished because, we non-muslims are very tolerant compared to their arrogance.

Just be happy and be proud of being a non-muslim. I am very proud of it.

You were basically called an idiot. Are you insulted? Hate crime is described as an actual act of violence. What has happened is discrimination. Everyone of us has experienced some type of discrimination in our lifetime.
