I would suggest you start listening to indie.
Wine Red by The Hush Sound is pure awesome.
If you're not into that, try Panic! At The Disco. Most people don't like it at first, but I Write Sins... happens to be one of the worst songs on the CD. Also: Fall Out Boy, old-school Green Day, or My Chemical Romance. The Fray is also amazing, but I don't know many teenagers who like it (I'm only thirteen, so I don't really know).
