Portuguese, as Europeans, are caucasians. All Europeans (except the ones that are sons of recent immigrants) are caucasians. Spanish people are caucasians. Spanish people are Hispanic too. It's not like or you're caucasian or you're hispanic. Hispanic is not a race, Hispanic is someone that speaks spanish or descents of someone that used to speak Spanish as native language. Portuguese people speaks Portuguese, so they're not hispanics. Not only in Spain there caucasian hispanics, there are lots of caucasian hispanics in Latin America too.
By the way, answer above said that if you're Brazilian you're latino, that's true, Brazilians are latinos, but Brazilians can be black or caucasians too. I'm Brazilian and caucasian. I'm latino because I was born in Latin America but I'm not hispanic, because I don't speak Spanish as a native language.

Brazilians and Portuguese people are NOT hispanic. Thus, the choices left for Portuguese people is either European or White or Caucasian. Now, Brazilians are not hispanic but half the population is black so obviously those cannot be white. The other half of the population call themselves white but most are really not white in the American idea of white or whiteness. One thing is certain: you cannot call a Brazilian "hispanic". Actually, the American Census of 2010 adopted "Brazilian" as an ethnicity choice.

Portuguese people are White/Mediterranean in terms of race, just like all other Southern Europeans.
The term "Latin" only applies to linguistic origin of romance languages - Portuguese, Italian, French, Spanish, and Romanian. Some people mix up linguistic origin with race, But they are two different things!
Northern Europe = White/Nordics
Southern Europe = White/Mediterraneans
South and Central America = Latinos/Hispanics

Depends. Portuguese is a language and a nationality, whereas Hispanic and Caucasian are ethnic / racial descriptions. A Brazilian would be Hispanic because of their darker skin (and I use these desciptive terms with the utmost respect for people of all backgrounds; I hope I don't cause any offense or political incorrectness), since they descend from a mix of the Spanish and Native Americans. People from Portugal would most likely be Caucasian because of their lighter tone and European ancestry.

A Portuguese person from Portugal is considered European, and the majority are caucasian. I think a Brazilian person who speaks Portuguese might be considered hispanic or latino, because of where Brazil. I wouldn't consider a Brazilian caucasian because many people descend from African slaves, and there is a large Japanese community in Brazil as well. =)

Hispanic means of Spanish decent. Latino means from latin America. Caucasion means from European countries not Spain. Portuguese is caucasion.
