When do they start getting noticably longer, and when does SUNSET start getting later?

By later, I mean around Five or so.
I actualy like snow, i just need the daylight.

Days start getting longer after the winter Solstice (Dec 22) and the rate at which the length increases follows a sinusoidal curve so that the fastest changes occur around the vernal equinox (Mar 22), slowing down and stopping at the summer solstice.

The shortest day of the year is December 21. Then they gradually get longer by 1-2 minutes a day until June 21, which is the longest day of the year.

Yes the winter solstice is dec. 22 where the days stop getting shorter. Though they don't start getting longer until 3 days later on dec 25.

Yeah I think so...I like the winter but I love the days being longer...makes the night life more exciting or something, in the wee hours..... :)

The shortest day of the year is December 21st after that the days become longer until June 21st which is the longest day of the year.

Saturday December 23 is the first day that gets longer as 22 Dec is the Winter Soltice or the shortest day of the year. You will not notice a good change till late March as Jan Feb and March are the slowest coldest months with god awful weather and Snow. Did you notice that snow is so bad that it is a four letter word.

It starts on 22nd december. Noticably not until mid-January
