Well, I'm an orthodox Jew, and I found it hilarious. I can understand why half the world is suing the guy, though no doubt a lot of them are just jumping on the lawsuit bandwagon (the owners of the bed and breakfast for example, suing because he supposedly made it look like they had roaches - as if it wasn't obviously staged - that's just ridiculous).

Any Jew who was really offended by the movie was probably missing the point. Americans were the real butt of the joke, though it sounds like the Romanians really got screwed over in the making of the movie. I would hope that your friend simply had to leave, or simply didn't like the movie.

Well, my girlfriend is a WAY above-average Jew, in both looks and smarts and sense of humor, and she laughed her sweet as s off during Borat. And I'm a Christian, albeit a liberal one, and also laughed harder than I had in a long time when I saw "Dogma" a couple years ago. I think God wants us to have a sense of humor. After all, he did! Look at the Platypus!

Not me... I think it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, and by making fun of anti-semitism it takes the sting out of it.
