I agree, Christmas is technically a Christian holiday and we shouldn't have to compromise it for someone else. All other religions have holidays and you don't see them compromising for us do you? They say Happy Hanukkah and everything else and its expected no to offend us. If you want to get in the Christmas spirit, you should go the whole way, which is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, not how much money you can spend in the time spend of the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.
Merry Christmas!

i think it is ridiculous to worry about whether it is a religious Holiday. we all know that Dec 25 is christmas and Jan 1 is NewYears. I think it mad just depend on the person, or situation you are in. For me , I never know how or what i am gonna say. I have taken the stance that If i know that I will see them again - I say Have a Merry Christmas , but if not sure, I say.. If I dont see you again, Happy Holidays, I tend to ramble so somewhere in there it will probaby come out as Merry christmas and Happy New Year too... LOL
WHY does every thing have to MEAN something. Just go with your heart.!! I suppose if you know for sure that NO WAY would that person appreciate you saying MERRY CHRISTMAS, due to being a Jehovah's witness ( In my community we have a LOT of people that follow this faith, but I will be darned if I know who is who..) then I would just say Holiday Blessings, or Happy Holidays.
I do make a mental note though of those people that I meet -and dont follow christmas to make sure i dont say it again.
Most always with kids, I say merry christmas - Hope santa is good to u- lol
I think u get the picture!

If you know the person is Christian say Merry Christmas, if your not sure say Happy Holidays.
I agree with you though I prefer Merry Christmas, it annoys me when non Christians put up a tree and buy gifts etc.
They don't even know what Christmas is about and are taking away from the religious aspect of Christmas.
This is also done with Easter, no other holiday, no other non Christian religion experiences this.

I like Christmas too, because I cant have a long holiday, I can do what I want, but if there isn't Christmas, I have to go to school every day! And I like to receive the greeting e-cards!

I'm not a Christian but I have always said Merry Christmas and if it offends people, tough, get over it.

Happy Holidays. Christians need to realize that there are other religions that celebrate their holidays around the same time.

Why not stick with "Have a nice day." It's every bit as mindless and inane as "Merry Christmas."
