It depends. The great apes, such as chimpanzees, are the only other animals besides us that have a menstrual cycle. For other animals, it is called estrus, or heat. During this period, ovulation takes place, and instinctively, they are called to mate, unlike us humans who predominantly prefer to "mate" whenever we want. Another difference is that animals don't have vaginal bleeding for the same reasons humans do. In humans, the uteral membrane is expelled, while in animals, it typically is not

Yes it is called being in "heat" That is when they can get pregnant. Kinda ironic really, that is the time we are least likely to get prego plus most people won't even have sex.

I don't know about all animals. However, if a cow goes into heat and doesn't breed she will have a discharge.

Yes, they even have special pads for dogs so that they don't get blood all over the house and furniture.
