It doesn't matter. If you like to play your instrument stay in the band. When you get really good at music, they won't think it's geeky. They'll just be jealous and wish they had been in the band too.

Band geek is someone who has no life outside of band and doesn't talk about anything other than music as a general rule.

Prep:

I don't believe so, in fact; many of today's artist did not know that they had the gifted talent for music until they practiced in school. That may not have been there reason for taking the class but in many cases they got a whole lot more out of it then what they expected. Besides when you play an instrument you have the attention of others. So do your thing and forget the critiques

Don't you worry your preppy little head about it, honey, the kids on the bus don't control the world, just their own opinions. If you want to be in the band, go ahead and be in the band. If you don't even play an instrument, why does this even matter to you?

I like old-school Green Day. American Idiot was pretty mediocre.

Oh geez, ever since those dumb "American Pie" movies a few years ago, that's been what some people have been saying.

No. It is not a geek thing. If anything, the same people making fun of it will regret not knowing how to play an instrument later in life.

Relax, kid....

Band is a whole lot of fun, trust me, was in it from 5th grade till a senior in HS. I love playing music and if they have a problem with it, then that's their problem. As for Greenday....yes...their NEW music sucks....but their old music was good...

NO! I am a self taught musician who was too prideful to join the school band. The fact is, people who take lessons and join their school's music program read music much better and are taught the rudiments and theory that make you a better musician in the long run. Keep it up!

They are just idiots. Gosh don't listen to them. GREENDAY ROCKS!!!! And its not a geek thing. Its some thing you won't to try. Don't let them take you down. You have to listen to yourself instead of them. Think of all the other friends your going to see or you might make new friends.

A)Greenday is ok with me, it's the fans who don't know what a Greenday is that get me ticked.
B)Everyone was in band at one point in their lives, Just drop it by the time you are in college.
