I myself and pro-life as well. I am tired of people saying that we have a weak argument. If their argument was that strong, would we still be arguing? Wouldn't we say, "well, the pro-choice people are right on this one"? Well we don't.
I think when you say that pro-lifers should be against war, pollution, etc. you aren't talking about individuals. You should look at what each individual person is saying or believes, not what you think the group believes.
As far as where are pro-lifers when the unwanted babies are born with nowhere to go, there are some extremely young people, teenagers, who are pro-life, you can see them at protests and whatnot. Are they supposed to be pro-choice because they are not old enough to adopt or take these children in? You have to be wealthy to adopt a child if you're not married. Are those people supposed to abandon the idea of pro-life because of that?
I don't think so.

a. I used to be extremely pro-life until I heard an unbiased debate. Now, I am still pro-life, but I believe that abortion should be an option under cases of rape, incest, if the baby's birth is a danger to the mother's health (cases like this are rare if they happen at all), if the baby is severely deformed, or if the baby has a severe mental illness. (Although, I think the last two cases should be put into a gray area until we can screen more accurately for them.) These are legitimate reasons for an abortion, and it is a good compromise for both sides of the issue. (I doubt any law banning abortions under all forms would be passed.) Also, last I checked, cases like I mentioned account for a surprisingly small percentage of abortions. (More will be saved then aborted.)
Now, in response to your main question:
"Why do most pro-life responses get more thumbs down than thumbs up on this website?"
-There are two sides to this issue: Those that want it banned under all forms because they feel that it is a woman's right to choose, and those that believe all forms of it is baby killing. I disagree with the first argument because- if it was consented sex- they are just getting the consequences of their own actions. I also disagree with people in the latter because incest and rape are (usually) not done by consent, being forced to have a baby that can cause severe damage or death to the mother is not justified (this is rare if it happens at all), and having a child with such severe defects isn’t what many people view as the right thing to do. I think that (most) people are not completely on either side, and that (most) people are hoping for a law similar to the one I am suggesting. Media brainwashing and idiotic feminists are the causes of many completely pro-choice opinions, while religion is responsible for many pro-choice opinions.
b. In response to your comment:
1. I am against war for illogical reasons, although it is sometimes necessary.
2. I am for the death penalty. You are removing horrible people from society, where they shall pay the ultimate price for their crimes and no longer be able to live in a place funded by our tax dollars. You can’t truly say that it is “too inhumane” after you see the horrible crimes that the people on death row committed and see how many steps they take to keep lethal injection less painful. I am for justice for the innocent, not for the guilty.
3. Obviously, we should not throw barrels of toxic waste into lakes, rivers, etc. or do anything stupid like that, but I am not an environmentalist, vegetarian, etc.

because pro life(ers) are dangerous. forget about the obvious things we could do to get rid of abortion, teaching, birth control, stop sleeping around and the like. i think at this point we know that people will still some how find them selves in an unplanned situation. i don't have little children, and don't feel like i should have to pay for them. there are to many people that have no business having children, pro life as well as pro choice. an unwanted child is a burden to every one. adoption? we all know that American children are at the bottom of the food chain when it comes time for adoption, where are all the pro lifers then??? do they have a solution for the drain on the economy that these children will create? no i think not.

Because for a whole generation most people have been indoctrinated with the idea of a pro choice position. Also most of the people who tend to have computers and use them tend to be the outwardly most progressive people in society. They tend to have learnt and been associated with the prevailing trends. Most people who hold the opposite view tend to be the more traditional people who are, on the whole , less inclined to partake in such things. It is just a simple matter of numbers in a particular leaning of activities.
Also I put it to the pro choice loby. Will you now present irrifutable proof, absolute irrifutable proof, that the fetus is not conscious, not aware and not human. After all it is the beginning of a human being. Not the beginning of a dog, frog , chair, star, horse, ape or anything else. Will you also bet your lives on the merit of such proof. After all if there is doubt you are betting some one else's life. If there is no confirmation. Should not we err on the side of caution and act accordingly? I know of the validity of women's suffering. And I acknowledge this. So I would bet my life that women suffer in certain of these circumstances. However measuring life(and not proven otherwise) against the former we should at least take into account that we don't know if we kill humans if we abort, but at least we know there is life there. After all, this is how life starts. Just consider all sides before you go and rush where fools fear to tread.

By basic values, do you mean disrespect for dissenting opinion? If you do, then I would say yes.
But if you mean that those who disagree with you lack basic values, I would say no.
For the record, I do not thumb down a question simply because I disagree with the responder's slant, but rather for such things as vulgarity, or disrespect of one's intellectual opponents.
As for the issue itself, you need to realise that someone who does not share your (apparent) premises about the origins and value of life is very likely to draw different conclusions. For example, one who sees life as being tied up with consciousness won't think of abortion in the same way as one who considers life a matter of the soul.
There are further complexities, of course. For example, one might be pro-life in principle, but anti back-street abortions, and therefore favour allowing abortions legally so as to fend off a still worse practice. By analogy, plenty of people who abhour drugs still favour means of undermining the drugs /trade/ and related criminality through (eg.) prescibing drugs to addicts.

because most people on here are more open minded and don't let religious dogma persuade them into defending a position that women who are raped should be forced to carry that baby to term. Even just telling women that they should have unwanted babies is bad for society, just imagine if all those aborted fetuses were forced to go to term and be raised by unwilling and neglectful parents. The crime rates would skyrocket. I don't think abortion is a great life choice but when you have already screwed up that bad you are forced int choosing between several bad choices. i personally combat abortion by using birth control, and urging all others who don't want kids to use it!!!

I will believe that "pro-lifers" have values when they are as opposed to war, executions, and deadly pollution as they are to abortion. Until then I can't believe that they have values. Do they think that the right to life ends at birth?

God is basic..... however, people tend to have too many of material things that they think they could do without God.... then that's the time they start to forget and do away with the basics
