I felt that way.
as a teen, I looked forward to 16 so I could drive
then 18, then 21,
then, thats it suddenly, not looking forward to any other ages.

At 25, I felt that I was at my prime, and was gonna start going down from there, that this is the best I'm ever gonna be.

when I filled out surveys, that started the next age group.
I didn't feel to old for the activities I enjoyed, I just felt That I was getting old, that this is the point where I Stop growing, and start aging, start dying.

It's sure not old!! They are probably just feeling the weight of adult life on their shoulders sinking in... though at 25 one has been an adult for a while, it takes a few years before you start to think about the long term, about the future and all of the responsiblities and pressures of being an adult. Maybe that is what they are feeling.

I don't feel old though... (and I'm not 25 anymore..) I believe it's all in how you live your life and relate to the world and the experiences and opportunities it gives you.

I use to think that turning 40 was old. When I was 35. Now I am 54.
I feel OLDER, but not "old." I know what "to be old is, I live in a community full of retirees. I see every day what OLD is.

To understand why your friends feel old is to understand how the human body ages. When we reach age 18-21, we are all grown up. No more growing taller, etc. From that point on, our bodies do a very SLOW decline in health. Blame a lot of it on gravity.

As we get older, we get weaker. Metabolism slows down, etc.
It is called sarcopenia. We even loose muscle strength.

So as we get older, we FEEL older.

Like this; if you at age 18, can pick up a 80 pound bag of sand with no problem. At age 25, you find the same bag is a bit of a struggle to pick up. As you get older, the struggle gets worse, and eventually, you cannot even pick up the bag, and have no desire to even try.

So what do you do? Accept the aging process, of which I call a DISEASE that we ALL get. Or "fight back!" This is done by doing DAILY aerobics, DAILY stretching, and weightlifting every OTHER day. You condition your body to pick up 4 80 pound bags of sand, so as age slowly robs you of your strength, by the time you are REALLY OLD, you are weak to the point where you can pick up only 1 80 pound bag of sand. But everyone around you cannot even move with out a walker or a wheelchair.

What would you prefer? Get older and not BE OLDER (i.e. weaker and tired) or get older and STAY STRONG so when you get the sicknesses we all get thru life, you can fight them!?

I prefer to be stronger. At age 54 I am stronger than most of the people on this planet. I went from, at age 18, a medium shirt and 190 pounds, to a XXL shirt and 274 pounds. And only 14% bodyfat. Sure I get all the things that go wrong with age, such as cateracts, etc. But I heal in days, not weeks, I bounce back from problems in 1/4 the time. And my daily outlook on life is GREAT.

My relatives, friends, and coworkers are all getting older and weaker. They prefer NOT to exercise. That is their choice. One thing exercise will NOT change, unfortunately - your FACE. It gets older and wrinkled no matter what exercise you do. From the neck up, I look old. From the neck DOWN - WOW!! I am huge. I dye my hair, at least. No need to walk around with white hair and look even older. And I still have ALL my hair!!

If you want, write and we can discuss exercises that very little time, work very well.

I'll be fifty soon and I still do all the things I want to do, that I always did. Even sex. I'm just better at it now.

i really don't think of a thing that I want to do that I did at 18, 25, 35 0r 45 that I can't do now.

Age is really very much a state of mind

I don't feel old and I don't look old either. I am 26. I think people are too much in a hurry to grow up, these days. A lot of people younger then me are married with 1 or children. Why not wait until your thirties, there is plenty of time.

I hope not - I'm 26 :(

In some situations I feel like I'm still 17.....and then in others I feel like an old hag. That's usually if I go out with a group of people and beat everyone's age by several years.

25 is a nice age--almost as good as 45, but I imagine 55 will be better in many ways.
