It's hard to watch your little one suffer like that, and feel so helpless yourself. My little one (who is six now) was constipated for nine days when she was nine months old. I thought I would just go over the edge, I was so worried. I had taken her to her paediatrician, and he told me that I shouldn't be too concerned. He recommended, as the others who posted, to give some juice diluted - half water half juice. I had got the Gerber prune apple mix. I gave it to her, and right after went for a drive on a bumpy dirt road. It did the trick. It's probably just her little system having to adjust to new foods at her age causing this. Don't worry too much, worst case scenario, is she may need an enema, but try the juice. I also know that some others mentioned for you to try bananas, I would suggest staying away from those. I am familiar with the BRAT diet that people use to stop diaherrea (spelling?) which is Bananas Rice Applesauce and Dried toast. Good luck.

If you are giving her solids, then try prunes mixed with applesauce. If they no longer make prunes in baby food jars (I had a hard time finding this not too long ago), then you can make your own. Just take prunes, put them in a bowl and cover with water overnight (or use hot water for about 30 minutes). When the prunes are soft, put the prunes and some water in a blender, or a food processor and blend until smooth. Just use water to make it the consistency that baby likes.

With my day care babies, I would give them 1/2 jar of prunes at at lunch, and it did the trick.

If baby is only on formula, then giving 1/2 prune juice and 1/2 water should help too.

Ask your doctor or chemist for anything that can help if it is really bad and she hasnt gone for a long period of time. Make sure she is drinking lots of water or fluid without sugar in. I know when my son was about the same age he had the same problem and there was a liquid you can buy from the chemist that you put in water and it helps to loosen their bowels. I hope she feels better soon its horrible to feel constipated.

give her some apple juice and either prune juice or prune baby food, that always did the trick for my little one. avoid giving her starchy things like potatoes and rice. also avoid bananas until shes no longer constipated.

Baby massage. Warm some baby oil and gently rub from the rib cage down, in a rhythmic pattern. Google it if you need more specific instructions.

i'd give her apple jucie about 4 oz. at 1st and then if that doesn't work in about 24 hours try prun juice a little diluted about half strength. but be careful b/c babies can get dyhydrated very easily.

When it comes to a 7 month old I would not be asking here but talking to a doctor, or any professional you can get a hold of, like a pharmacist. Please do not ask this advice here.
