its always the same thing with my family, look forwards to christmas, get stupid presents, and pretend you like them for the following week. and there, christmas is over. I'm thinking of having a christmas party, but we don't really have the money right now, and I am a klutz when it comes to planning parties. any suggestions on how to spice up the holidays?

Okay, what about trying a secret santa.
U must give gifts from 15.00 up, that way it can't be crappy.
For a christmas dinner, you can add cute little decorative ornaments or pretty candles. It adds a nice flare.
Why not try something new? For christmas, istead of a turkey, why not a ham, or a lamb?
For decorations, keep with a color scheme, that way the room looks organized and flows.
And instead of only family, why not friends and close co workers.
That way, more gifts, and more stories to share make your christmas great.
Why not try cute holiday games, and put out coloring books and board games for the children? That way everyone is included and everyone has fun.
As for music, Christmas Carols and nice christmas jazz tunes really help. Jazz makes the place more calm and relaxing, and carols bring everybody together.
Hope these tips help.

Well about the presents. My family is boring too. Next year (too late for this year) for our gift exchange at my house I am going to have everyone buy a gift certificate for $25 and do a stealing of the present (first person picks gift and then 2nd either gets a new card or steals the first ones card), OR do As Seen on TV gifts OR we live in Indiana and everyone likes the Colts Football team so get Colt's gifts. Also we always have a two doorprizes every year and that is fun. We all write our names on a list besides numbers and whoever gets picked first gets the good prize the 2nd gets the booby prize and it's usually something silly like huge tin of popcorn or toilet paper or something. This year I'm playing Christmas music and having fun food. I hope I can make it fun! Also maybe buy some wine that might help.

Christmas is not about what you get and how much money you have. Its about how much you can do for others! You could start by not acting so selfish and spoiled. Try giving instead of taking. offer to help work at the local Christmas dinner for the indigent and poor, Do some baking, and give it to all your friends and neighbours. Go through old photo albums and ask your parents or grandparents who all the people in them are . There is always something to do that will make others feel loved.

I would enjoy the peace and quiet and try to reflect on the more spiritual aspects of Christmas. Many of my Christmas's were ruined by the actions of certain family members. I LOVE a boring Christmas, but I still go for a more upbeat New Year's Eve.

Be glad for what you have. It could all be taken away in a flash, and then you may be sorry.
