Use your eyes, look around and really look.
Look at the everyday things you see going on in your community. Not just aids, pregnancy, or global warming...those things are already known. What isn't known? Do you see a child in ragged hand me downs?

There's always poverity, especially if you live in a city.

Are there not enough day care centers? Do you see children running about without parents? Is there trash all over the street?

Simple things that you can see in your every day to day life, but you have to look to really observe it as if you were a visitor to that area. Do a little thinking about what you see. I'm sure you'll come up with plenty.

How about trying to tackled the issue of "Theres nothing for kids to do in this town." Which leads to just hanging out, which often leads to juvenile crime, under age drinking, drugs, smoking, obesity, teenage pregnancy etc...

* What resources does the community offer?
* What resources are needed?
* How can you assist in getting these resources?
* How could individual businesses and organisations help?
* Is this a non issue? Has todays youth lost the ability to entertain themselves through the advancement of technology?

Hope this helps and good luck to you.

Perhaps you have a senior center in your town. Go and ask them questions regarding challenges that they may have as seniors. Are they able to get from place to place easily? Could they use help at home from a student such as yourself? Perhaps you could volunteer to do a simple project for a senior in their home that they may no longer be able to do themselves like dusting in high areas, shoveling snow from their driveway and sidewalks, raking leaves it would solve a problem for them and you will feel great about yourself for helping! You can go to your town hall in an effort to find out where volunteers are needed and where you could be the most productive. Ask lots and lots of questions! You will find a challenge that you can solve and even have fun doing it. Best wishes and happy holidays to you!

How about those people who train helper dogs to assist people with disabilities or building ramps to make access to buildings easier for wheelchairs. Those are two things you might be able to do.
