I can't remember the name of this film. I may have some details wrong but a young girl is orphaned or abandoned in 1800s London? has some tough times and enters into prostitution. Has a daughter, leaves the daughter but at the end sends someone for the daughter... the man sent to get the daughter is the narrator... and I believe the last scene is them reunited. Spinning around on a beach? And is this adapted from classic literature?

It sounds like Les Miserables like the lady above me said but as i remember Les Mis was placed in France and the mother dies and Jean Val Jean cares for the daughter. so as i write i will have a change of heart and say sorry i do not know what this is.
Wait my wife is over my shoulder and she says it's Moll Flanders!
