Reboot your pc....as it is booting up...press f8 to enter safemode. Find the files in safe mode and right click on the file. Select properties from the list. Click on the securities tabs. Look for a check box to disable inherited rights (it may be under an advanced tab...it been awhile since I have had to do this...so I forget) You must turn off the inherited rights of the file from the system. Then you should be able to delete the file.

You can't delete them for 2 reasons :
They are part of windows files and they might be vital windows files infected. XP will prevent you from deleting such files.
Second reason . The virus or trojan might not be deletable if you are connected to the internet. So disconnec from the net then try to delete them.
But I will surely let the antivirus do the job.
My recommendation :
Disconnect from the net to avoud duplication issues with the infected files .
Then run your antivirus : AVG Free & The Cleaner 4.1(1 month free trial)
Good luck,
Email me if you have more issue,
Joe.

The obvious answer is to use an antivirus software program to delete them. There are several good free antivirus programs, Antivir, Avast and AVG being the most popular. You can download all of them from: http://www.filehippo.com/software/antivirus/
If you are new to antivirus programs, try AVG. It is free for personal and non commercial use. Install AVG and update it. Afterwards, scan your computer and quarantine any suspicious files.

Did your Antivirus program say they are viruses? Run your antivirus program and be sure to be up to date, run it again in soft mode. IF there is viruses they detect...they sould remove it. I can't figure how to delete a virus from a file in the manner you spoke. If you have a spyware problem, run Antispyware.
