i put a password on the BIOS but i forgot the password is there any way i can recover my password? or am i screwed?

There is usually a jumper setting on the motherboard to reset that. You will have to fish out the mb manual and find out.

Open up the case - there will be a button battery on the motherboard. Take this out for 5 mins, then put it back in. This should reset the password.

before trying anything involving taking the thing apart, like a jumper or removing the battery for a minute, try various manufacturer reset passwords.
You can find these by bios manufacturer, although some bioses give you only 3 tries, then you have to reboot. Also, keep in mind, in some countries, the ? and _ keys are reversed.
And if you do anything involving uncovering the case, remember to wear a wrist strap!

Check your motherboard manual. There's usually a jumper that you can remove or switch to reset the BIOS password.

you might be able to boot to a floppy and flash your bios with an update - research google to learn more about flashing the bios

remove the cmos battery in your pc...wait 10 seconds, put it back in. its usually a quarter size watch type battery mounted on the motherboard
