England captain Michael Vaughan's 166 in the 3rd test at Old Trafford was the first century of the series.

England Captain, M.P. Vaughan was the first to score century in the 2005 Ashes series. He scored 166 in the 1st Innings in the 3rd Test of Ashes Series played at Old Trafford, Manchester from 11th to 15th August, 2005. No one had scored in the first 2 Tests of the same series.

A.J. Strauss of England and Ricky Ponting, Captain of Australian Team also scored centuries in the 2nd innings of the same test.
