To stand out from common names. I'm glad my mom had enough common sense to give me a non-ghetto name. I would never name my children names like that, I want them to get jobs.

I have a question for you... Why do whites name their children Apple, Zolten, Bluebell, True Harlow, Ivy Nightingale, Thijs, Maxwell Danger, Space Pilot. I think I will stop here, but I could go on. So, when you answer my question with a reasonable explanation then maybe we can have a conversation.
OH- Tyrese is also a popular name in Asia.
By the way my name is Rocquel (but I was named after Raquel Welch, a white woman (just with a different spelling). So what does that say about unique/weird names?

You should not stereotype all African Americans and what is wrong with those names. They show character, and imagination and they are good names just like Tiffany, Muffin, Buffy, Jennifer and so on.

O-M-G! LIKE OH MY GOSH!, Um.....mam, my name isn't any of those. I'm mainly black and my name is Samantha. Is that bad? I don't think they are weird names. Its just that person's name, i guess. I dunno. My cousin's name is Myiesha and another is Ashanti. I think they are African names. That's why my aunt named them that. They have unique names. Mine is soooooooo normal, that's its boring! My sister's name is better than mine. Don't be jealous, hun. Envy is a sin!
Merry Christmas! and a Happy New year!

african-americans give their children more interesting names b/c their last names are very common (johnson, smith, jones, black, white, etc.). this is b/c way back in the day when the evil of slavery existed, slaveowners gave every black person the slaveowner's last name, thus taking away their individuality and family ties. this was done mostly to break apart the families. it also created hundreds of people named michael johnson, mary white, christopher jones, etc.

bc they are unique names.. Look at it like this, there are probalby several Amber's and Brittany's. Our names are just diff. Diff does not necessarily mean a bad though. I think being unique is what makes the world interesting.
