I scope out the room for a few minutes and then I let everyone know I'm there. Then I join in on the fun.

A little bit of both, I usually size out who's who but I like to make myself known.

I usually look around to see who else is there, and usually people start to come to me and say hello... if they don't I just make my way thru the room and see what happens.

Besides, if it is a party with my friends, they all know who I am and I don't have to "make myself known". I have never blended well, and have always stuck out in a crowd (I'm 6' tall), so people tend to notice me. Sometimes that works to my advantage, especially at parties.

Unfortunately, I make myself known. I don't care who's who. So long as they all know I'm there.

I make myself known... I usally trip, then laugh too loud, then make a stupid joke and make everyone slightly uncomfortable..

Then the ice is broken, and we can all move on!
