When your hand falls asleep, you are blocking the nerve (or my anatomy teacher said, but I always thought it was cutting off the blood supply.
But the best way to get rid of sleepiness is to massage your hand. It stimulates blood flow.

You're right, the blood flow is getting cut off. There are some mdical conditions which can cause this feeling, though, even if you are not lying on the arm very much. If this happens a lot, you should talk to a doctor about it. You may have some kind of circulation problem.

That happens to me a lot while i'm sleeping too. What you do is u can either immediatly begin movingn ur arm around so the numbness will go away quick. Or you could just leave it lying and move it a little bit, the pins won't be as bad but it will last longer.

Umm, I dunt think u can cut it off by lying on it. I'm a person that moves alot when I sleep, and I usually have my hand under my head or something, and it doesnt go to sleep. However, it goes to sleep when I had it like up for a long time, and I suddenly put it down. I dunt think theres anything wrong with it, and I think u just have to wait it out.

It is from cutting off the blood flow. You just move your fingers around quickly. Like make a fist, shake them, just move them. That will get the blood flow back and it will be gone.

Hey, I don't really know exactley WHAT causes the pain but I get it sometimes also. Like you said when you sit or lay on something weird it cuts off the circulation, but, usually to get rid of it I shake my hand. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, so , thats all i have to say,

I get this very often... I have carpal tunnel. You are probably sleeping on it bent or something. You can mess up your nerves if you continue to sleep on it awkwardly. Anyway, what I do is open and close my numb hand repeatedly. I also put some lotion on my hands and massage them with back and forth strokes.

You are probably right on what's causing it. Try massaging your hand to speed blood flow back into it.
