If I don't have a letter opener at the time I just open it on the front end. If I do have a letter opener, I just use that instead.

Get a letter opener. Slip it through the crack on the top corner (any) and slide it in. Gently raise the letter opener so the sharp edge rips open. Or you can just rip it off by hand.

It just depends! Junk mail gets ripped in half, letters from relatives get ripped open with anticipation :), official mail gets a tidy trim with a pair of scissors and all the bills just sit on the table!

I slit the envelop open at the top, sometimes with a letter opener and sometimes by ripping it open.
Why on earth would anyone want to know this?

rip it open along the top with my finger, I also save the stamps to be used to train dogs for the blind, if anyone wants to do this make sure you keep at least 1/2 of paper all round the stamp because if the perforations on the stamp are damaged it is no good, sorry I know this was not part of your question.

First, I pull up a corner a little bit; enough to get a pen under there, then I slowly pull the pen across so I don't have a ripped, awful mess when I get it open.♥
