Before boneless breasts became such a popular item, you very seldom would see a bird that weighed more than 3 to 4 pounds. The life span of these birds was 6 weeks old. In order to get enough of a yield to produce a decent sized piece of breast filet, the birds are now grown to an average of 6 to 7.5 pounds, and have a life span of 9 to 10 weeks old.
I don't know who started this crazy rumor about "bio engineered" chickens, but it is a false accusation. As far as the bird being unable to walk, personally I would like to see this.
I have been on several poultry farms, both in the breeder phase where the eggs are harvested, and the broiler phase, where the chickens are growed to be processed for consumption. I have never seen any birds that were unable to walk because of having big breasts. If the bird has big breasts, every other part of the bird will be large also.
In breeder houses, the hens and roosters are kept on these farms for approximately 35 weeks or more. These are big birds that are kept on the farms for sold purposes of producing eggs. Once they reach a certain age and no longer are able to lay eggs, they are sold to a company that only processing them for soups, chopped meat, chicken dumplings, etc. The meat is processed by boiling; any other method of cooking, you would not be able to eat the meat due to the meat would be too tough. These birds do grow to a very large size, some as large as turkeys, but their size is due to their age, not from bio engineering. Some of these birds look like medium size turkeys, they are so big. Even though these birds are so large, they can still walk all over the house and I have never seen one fall over because of being 'breast heavy'.
Therefore the moral of my story is "Eat more chicken".

My grandma grew up on a farm. She knows what chicken looks like, and that ain't chicken, buddy. They probably feed it mutating weirdo chicken juice. Ugh.

That's why they have to call it KFC. Calling it Kentucky Fried Chicken would be false advertising.

No but many of their customers and workers appear to be brainless.
(Though I don't know of any connection to bioengineering in this).

There are no bioengineered (other than by selective breeding) meat products available to the public.

And the chickens are not to breast heavy to stand.

They are not headless, but they are unable to walk basically becasue they are bred with such large breasts they are very "top heavy" if that makes sense.
