where did the world come from

As a Christian physicist, let me attempt to throw my hat into the ring. Physics will tell you that the world (universe) was created by the Big Bang. There are plenty of links on the web and books we can all read which support this theory. Our world (Earth) was created by the accumulation of gas and dust in our current solar system, and there are plenty of books on accretion disks, planetary formation and solar system formation on those topic.

Now, as for Christianity, nothing I just said disagrees with Biblical teachings. Its a shock, I know. Creation of the universe? God said "Let there be light," and bang! there was light. Creation of the earth? The Bible teaches that God created the heavens and the earth in six days, and rested on the seventh. The Bible also teaches that "with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." Clearly, six "days" is in no way inhibited by our definition of 24 hours, or 86400 seconds, or 8*10^14 ticks of a cesium clock. And who says God can't create gravity to form these accretion disks? No one ever said He had to show us evidence of moving particle by particle; creating a process or algorithm to do it automatically may even show greater intelligence.

So there, physics and the Judeo-Christian tradition are compatible with respect to the formation of the world. Someone else will have to answer for other religions.

I go with modern science not Bronze Age fables

'A recent Gallup poll concluded that nearly 50% of the American public believes the universe is less than 10,000 years old. Nearly half the population, in other words, believes that the entire universe, the sun and solar system, the Milky Way galaxy, the Andromeda galaxy, and all the billions of other galaxies, all began after the domestication of the dog. They believe this because they rate a particular bronze age origin myth more highly than all the scientific evidence in the world. It is only one of literally thousands of such myths from around the world, but it happened, by a series of historical accidents, to become enshrined in a book – Genesis – which, by another series of historical accidents, has been translated and disseminated to almost every home in the land plus – infuriatingly – every hotel room. Even before science told us the true story of the origin of the world and the evolution of life, there was no reason to believe the Jewish origin myth any more than the origin myths of the Yoruba or the Kikuyu, the Yanomamo or the Maori, the Dogon or the Cherokee. Now, in the 21st century as we approach Darwin’s bicentenary, the fact that half of Americans take Genesis literally is nothing less than an educational scandal.'

Howdy,

If you want the TRUTH, it's found in the Bible. The Bible (King James Version) IS the word of God from cover to cover and everything in between. God cannot Lie.

Genesis says that God created the Heavens, and the earth in 6 literal days, and He rested on the seventh day. He SPOKE and it was so, and after He created something (I.E. Light, dry land, trees, animals etc. etc.) He looked upon it, and said "It is good".

"All good things come from ABOVE (from God). It was only after Satan deceived EVE, and after Adam willingly ate (because after she ate, she offered that same forbiden fruit to her husband Adam), that SIN, DEATH, and WAR Entered into this world. And that SIN sepeprated humanity from God's Love and care.

Thank God He gave His Son for us that noone should perish, in Hell.

Hope this was helpful.

Dear lola12342,

Despite popular belief, the world was not actually the result of the cooling of molecules and formation of planets following the Big Bang. This theory was recently discarded when scientists discovered the Bible, which clearly states that the world was created by God approximately 5000 years ago. It therefore follows that any evidence of a much older universe must be a hoax, possibly planted and supported by the enemies of God, a rebel group composed of malicious scientists and led by Satan.

The answer is not by god. We are made up from what is left over from the formation of our solar system and sun. If there is a god, he was created my man in our likeness

by whatever you want. just think. just think and make your own thing. find what you think makes the most sense, or what's the most probable answer. then, when you die, you might find out. or you might just be dead. like, asleep. forever.

i personally dont think the whole "god" thing is possible. christianity is all like "if you dont believe in god, even if you're the best person ever, you BURN". that's why i'm agnostic. stuff from lots of religions is somewhat logical. except for one almighty dude controlling our every move. if he/she was, would i be able to do this? "F*CK YOU, 'GOD' ". no.

ya. it's whatever you want. :D

so whatever it is, i think christianity isnt it.
