The first thing you want to do is look up the hard drive jumper settings from the manufactures of each drive and either print them out or write them down.

Power down your PC.

The primary drive with the operating system should be set up on IDE controller 1 and set to Master. The 2nd hard drive should have jumper set to Slave and connected to the cable going to IDE controller #2.

Power up the PC and go into the BIOS settings. Make sure that the devices are set up for Auto Detect. Save the new BIOS settings.

When the operating system boots up you should see both drives and be able to transfer files between them. You may have to reboot the PC again, typically the operating system will inform you of this if it is necessary.
