He should not have been elected. Even though it will never stop capital crimes. When they start executing 15 year old gang-members, you may see a slight drop in the murders, rapes. The way to do it is like Texas. They have property laws also. I think what they should do would be go to either "public hangling" or everyone in every state that is on death roll, I would say on January 1st of each year place all on death roll to death. that would be thousands, but it would get the message out. I know this is far fetched . Just like I have been in bars, and if you did not have a "gun" they would give you one...

It doesn't promot or demean life. It simply means that one single judge in California does not believe capital punishment to be constitutional. I haven't read it yet, so I don't know whether it was the state constitution or the United States constitution.

It might spark more discussion, but I don't think it's the death blow to the death penalty.

Well, to start, he didn't declare it unconstitutional.

He put a temporary hold on lethal injection executions, as it runs the risk of violating the constitutional ban on cruel & unusual punishment.

Basically, this means that they're looking into the "botched" execution in Florida, to ensure that future executions can be done without any pain & suffering for the convict.

I don't know the impact that this ruling has on "life," but I firmly believe that the death penalty is no deterrant to crime, and a morally corrupt form of justice. I hadn't heard this story, but I'll be looking into it.

UPDATE: While I disagree with the judge's opinion on the possibility that the death penalty as it is implemented can be fixed, anything that halts killing people in the name of justice is a good thing, IMHO.

I think it's great. No one has the right to take someones life.Do u know that when D.N.A came about they had to free 99 people after finding out they were innocent. Our court system is so screwed up no one should have the death penalty.Oh and I had my father murder and I still don't believe in it.

I disagree with the judge's decision. I feel that the death penalty is Constitutional and a viable alternative for criminal punishment.

Until the Judge PERSONALLY Experiences the DEATH of a Loved one by the hands of a MURDERING Sociopathic personality -- they will NEVER understand the HORRIFIC Amount of Pain that the SURVIVORS of the Victim experience ....
