depends on how much you have to spend...my suggestion, without bias but experience, is to get a MacBook or MacBook Pro, both now with standard Core 2 Duo's, the latest dual core Intel processors, which run cooler, more efficient, and shuts a core down when only one is needed so as to preserve power...if you have the green, get a MacBook Pro, as they are worth it completely!!! roughly five to six hours or more depending on power configuration, 120 GB standard for the 15" and 160GB standard on 17"..15" with 2.1 ghz processor and the 17" with a 2.33 ghz
both standard with 1GB of ram for awesome speed, and both have the super drive...
if not, then the MacBook series is an awesome line up, with customizable specs of 120 GB max, 2 GHz RAM, etc....both are extremely fast and CTRL-ALT-DEL will leave your memory once you purchase a MacBook

HP Pavillion dv6000. it has good hardrive, fast processor, and about a 3-4 hour battery life, which is very good.

Try an XPS....You get to choose your battery life i think but its not that long
