when I click the printer icon the printer acts like it's printing, but the paper comes out blank. It prints my pictures without a problem, It just won't print microsoft applications (word,excel,etc.).

You are possibly out of black cartridge. Just replace it.

p.s. Also, in word check the "color" and make sure you have "none" or "automatic" or "black". Sometimes if that gets accidentally changed the print won't show up.
