I remember watching a CSI episode where the CSI team assumed someone was lying because their eyes were looking torwards one direction. I forgot if it's the left or the right. They explained that one side of your brain handles memories and the other side can fabricate/fantasize about things (ie., LIE!) which is why people tend to look at one direction when they're either recalling something from the past or lying. I just don't know which side is which... =P

If I remember correctly, the language portion of your brain is in the upper left. So when you're asked a difficult question (Quick! Name all the letters of the alphabet backwards!) dealing with language, your eyes look toward the upper left part of your brain, the language part.
If you're asked a question dealing with math or numbers, (Quick! Count backwards from one hundred by threes!) then your eyes look for the part of your brain that deals with numbers, in the upper right.
Try it on your friends some time, but don't tell them what you're watching for, or they'll try to stop themselves.

Since I am left handed, I look left when I am lying. They will never make eye contact. Also if they are on "dope" or "weed", they will not make eye contact, especially your grown children.

im an excellent liar by nature as im always highly and consistently aware of my, and others, body language.
im always "zoned in" on me and my surroundings to the point where i lose track of my surroundings so to speak, or in otherwords, i get so focused on trying to figure someone out or thinking what someone else is thinking about someone else or me or any combination that when something 'normal' happens i'm caught off guard.

lower left- but it has more to do with their body language than anything really. you can look someone in the eye and lie to them- but the way your body moves you really have no control over.
