The speedo works part time along with the tranny not shifting too. I know the transmission depends on the speed sensor for shifting so I replaced the speed sensor but no luck. Then a month later heater is cuttin in and out along with radio. The car in question is a 1999 Monte Carlo with the 3.1 V6.

I would check the battery cable connections at the battery. Make sure they are clean and tight. It sounds like a loose or intermittent connection. Also check the battery cable connections at the starter, alternator, and negative battery cable at the engine block/trans bellhousing interface.

The speedometer not working could be the wires broke inside insulation on connector at speed sensor.have seen this many times on these models.simple test pull on each wire to see if stretches any .other problem may be a loose grd from batt to body.

sounds like you have a short in the system as well as a vacuum
line issue, to complex for the average do-it-yourselfer, take to a good mechanic before it leaves you stranded, or worse, catch
fire.
