They say really horrible stuff about me and my bf, but none of it is true. Why do they do that

Because they're either:
1. Stupid
2. Jealous
3. Bored
My bet would be on bored. Talking about the social lives of people other than themselves can be seen as exciting for some. Of course, people who find excitement in that are generally stupid as well.

In females, a hormone is released when they gossip, therefore making them happy! (like endorphins). This is not true of males though. Ignore them, they are just being selfish by concentrating on their endorphins rather than the effect their gossip has on other people.

have you ever gossiped ,go on , are you sure , not just a little , didn't it give you feel just a little perverse satisfaction , to ridicule that person a little , didn't it make you feel a little better than them , did you feel the power , like a Greek emperor with his thumb down

It differs on each person.
Sometimes people get jealous and start rumours as a way to make themselves feel better. About the fact they aren't as thin, popular, nice and etc.

To start old sh*t to stinking again, when people gossip about you, don't pay it any attention, just go on like it never happen. You must have something they want or they wouldn't be think about you enought to have you on their mind.

They are probably jealous. Or did you ever do something bad to them, making them feel the same way, and they are trying to get revenge.

id just ignore them. I hate people that do that, they just have no life. If it is one of your friends just walk up to them and say.... Dude/Chick, dont talk to me like that... we chose eachother and thats the way it is. Just back off.

thats not really gossip, thats just spreading nasty rumours. find out who's starting them and confront them.
