Yet you made some mistakes, too. It's spelled 'a lot' and 'can not'.

I also get annoyed with those who can't spell, but even the people who love spelling mess up sometimes. *cough* you *cough*

People cannot spell correctly because the are too lazy to get off their you know what and get the dictionary out. They think with the invention of the computer that they don't need a dictionary. That or they were too lazy in school and didn't bother to do their work, so they post stupid questions like, "why is school important?" Gee, here is a thought...to learn how to speak and write... Who would of thought of that...hahaha

I read a statement like yours and wonder the same thing.

"Why is it, that...." What does THAT mean?

"english" is "English" (if you mean the language)

What does "this day and age" have to do with the ease in which English is written? Were the pencils that much heavier in ages past?

"...enough to write." It's the end of a sentence. Use a period. Then start a new sentence with "So..."

"alot" is "a lot"

So what is it? Slopiness or ignorance?

Well, lots of different reasons. Some are lazy. Some simply are new to the language. Some aren't very educated. Some think chatspeak is "kewl". And some, like yourself, aren't really that bad, but still have a few errors. "Alot" is incorrect. It is proper to say "a lot".

I think the question is... Does anyone know how to use Dictionary.com? Whether or not you can separate "alot" is irrelevant. You can still spell better than half of the people on here.

um, you misspelled a lot. lol. it's two words. there are way too many illiterate people out there. and they can't use spell check, because you have to know how to spell to know which word to select. lol. the school system in our country is totally going down the drain.

I think it's because most of the world is into slang. English is by far, one of the most complicated languages for people because of all its exceptions. Some people, who are new to the language, are yet to discover these exceptions. But, as I said before, most of the world uses slang too much.

Throwing stones in a glass house are we. The word English should begin with a capital letter and a lot is 2 words. Please visit this link so that you may learn to spell.
