I suspect the sensor is accessed from underkneath the car, toward the back of the block, near the center cylinders. The drawings I have place it in an inaccessible location, but access is required to test operation while vehicle is running.

If it is the 3.4L, then there are two, one on each side of the block. If it is the 3.1L, then there is only one, and it is on the front side of the block under the exhaust manifold. Be sure to drain the coolant, and more will come out when you remove the knock sensor. Look for a light gray connector with one wire, the 3.4 will have one with a lt blue wire, and the other one will have a dk blue wire, the 3.1 will have just the one with a dk blue wire. You should have 5v dc on the single wire when it is diconnected.

Since you have the Z34 with the 3.4L DOHC, there are 2 knock sensors. Usually when a knock sensor goes bad or there is a problem with the circuit, it will trip a DTC (P0325, P0326 or P0327). Is there a reason that you are interested in replacing or testing the KS sensor?
