i would have to agree. But there is also the fact that stores and different companies try to attract people in, and the majority of the nation is Christian or celebrates Christmas. And yes, it is a very commercialized holiday, but it is basically the major holiday of the year and the people who advertise are tying to make a living too, and provide for their families.

I disagree. Different countries celebrate in different ways. This is America and Christmas is the holiday most Americans celebrate. Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday and because we are a free country, Jewish people are free to celebrate Hanukkah in leiu of Christmas.

Christmas SHOULD be promoted. It's the commercialism that needs to slow down. If I were in charge of the world, there would be no Christmas decorations or Christmas merchandise advertising until Dec. 1.

Yes. It has become such a part of the American economy (not sure about other places) that the hype for it is just too much. My family is going through a rough time this year with multiple things to deal with and all the jingle bells and trees and ho ho ho just remind us that this year, things are different. None of us feel like celebrating at all and we are just making a stab at it. I talked to a girlfriend today to wish her Happy Hanukah. I think all the holidays, all the different views should be part of the "season". I would really like to know more about what my friends do and why.

yes, i agree. It's all too comercialized and people forget the real meaning of christmas.
I do agree with you about Hanukkah, etc. At least you are giving special thought to it. And now many share your same opinion about the Holiday.

People lost track on what's the real Christmas means.

Christ coming into the world, to save us, sinner is the real meaning of Christmas, somehow some decades ago, we started to adopt these paradigma, Christmas = buy expensive stuff & be broke by the new year, not really wise thing to do.

Very much so, I agree. Extremely commercialized. Can't hardly find appropriate gifts for the other winter holidays. But, the greeting cards are much better now.

True, Hannukah started around the 16th and you've heard little about that. Kwansa (Afro-American) is the day after Christmas and Eid (Muslim/ISlam) is Dec 31st and practically no one has heard of them. And yet Christians belly ache that they are not getting enough attention and respect in this country (US).
