The Chinese invented the first computers. Computers are mainly devices that computes, in the case of modern computer, they calculate 1 and 0's but the earliest method or device of computing is the Abacus, they use it to do basic math quickly.

Because then it was Apple. Specifically Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs.

However if you mean first computer no matter what, unusable by laymen, then it was Charles Babbage during World War II. But that's only if you mean the first ELECTRONIC computer, and that was really kind of a calculator.

If not, then it was Archimedes with the Antikythera Machine in 250 BC.

See a book called "The Difference Engine" it is a fictionalisation of the first computer at the Chicago World's Fair in the 1800's.

It seems to me Blaise Pascal was credited for inventing one of the first "computers", think it was actually called a mechanical calculator. Wow, I guess I remember something from college....

The computer was invented here in the good ol' USA.It was of course improved upon by the Japanese,just like they did with the automobile.

the first computers were made by UNIVAC thats was like in 1951
they were used for governemtn purposes
