Is this possible? Is any law enforcement agency 100% effective? We only stop 10% of the drugs coming into the country, and drug smugglers are waaaay smarter, well organized, well equipped, and financed than the terrorists.

Well, how many terrorist attacks have YOU heard of on US soil in the last 5 years?

A fact's a fact, Jack.

The absence of terror attacks only proves that initially after 9-11-2001, the number of terrorists that seriously wanted to attack the US was very small.

Bush wants to take credit for stopping attacks, but where are the arrests? It's been 5 years, and we've seen no evidence that a single imminent attack has been foiled by the US. The cases that may be coming to court have been tainted by torture. The confessions are unreliable, and there is little, if any, corroborating evidence. The arrests of the highest value targets such as Khalid Sheik Mohammad were all made by or in other countries principally, Pakistan.

US intelligence agencies concur that the number of anti US terrorists has grown in response to US foreign policy and the war in Iraq. Fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here has become a self fulfilling prophecy, as angry Iraqis and foreign Muslim extremists hone their skills by attacking US troops. However, this is a problem Bush has created, not prevented; a distinction that Bush worshipers conveniently ignore or deny.

Scottyurb is right on the mark when he says "If an act of terror is defined as an act of aggression or violence against an individual by a foreign agent then there are about 1000 attacks a day against our soldiers."

And what do we call the guys who attack our soldiers? Terrorists!

Since the Japanese didn't declare war in time, the most likely terrorist attack was Pearl Harbor. Don't forget Oklahoma City, either! However, 9-11 does count as a terrorist attack and the fact that Osama bin Laden stated that his group "would bankrupt" us is an indicator that it was a win-win situation for them, particularly since we stupidly went on to invade Iraq. Iraq was terrorist free until George "WTF" Bush made it the new home of terrorists. Well, now we are financially (and morally) bankrupt. Who is the winner? Not the American Middle Class, that's for sure.

No Credit to Bush for nothing except the quagmire/civil war in Iraq. If an act of terror is defined as an act of aggression or violence against an individual by a foreign agent then there are about 1000 attacks a day against our soldiers. 18 Saudi's with box cutters, trained by our own CIA, was no terrorist plot--more like an inside job.

I guess the test would be: have we had any terrorist attacks on US soil since 9/11?

No? Didn't think so.
But we have stopped several, and identified numerous potential terrorists; the most recent being the Arabic truck driving student who didn't want to learn to back up, and wanted a HazMat rating!
So yes, I give Bush & Homeland Security credit for that.
God bless them, and God Bless America!

He is totally responsible for one: 9/11. Why didn't Al Qaida commit mass murder here while Clinton was President? You'd have to be blind to not believe bin Laden waited until we elected somebody weak and ignorant who would make a stupid and misdirected retaliation. Why did Dubdub cut and run at Tora Bora? Don't you think Osama knew he would?

50+ attacks have been averted by Homeland Security thus far.

I'm sure it won't always be 100% effective, but at least the tools are in place to get most of them.

As opposed to the "how many" terroist attacks there were before 9/11...I'm sorry what was that number again....

No.
There have been several terrorist attacks, and they have been stopped by the potential victims, like the man with bombs in his Nike shoes. PEOPLE are stopping the problems, not Bush.
