Yes, as those defense mechanisms are lowered or obliterared and you see a bit of the real person

It seems to me you have three different situations going on here. One with a frustrated person, one with an angry person and one with someone talking about their feelings.

Any one of these people could be telling the truth. But, it is true that every one of these people could also say something that isn't necessarily the truth. People can lie when they are frustrated, angry or sharing their feelings.

Truthfulness is probably most likely in the sharing of feelings mode as it assumes honest communications. Although there is no guarrantee.

The short answer is, it depends on how well you know the person. Is he or she likely to let his emotions get the best of him and spout out something he doesn't really mean? Or is he more likely to blurt out the truth no matter how much it hurts the listener.

Sorry I can't be more accurate....it just depends.

I think that the truth is dependent on many different things. Yes, truth does often come out when a person is angry, but I think that this only happens in rare instances. I think that when a person becomes angry, their judgment and morals become clouded. Therefore, what comes out of their mouth might not be the exact truth. Rather, it might take the form of insults, slurs or other kinds of hurtful phrases, whose purpose would be to simply affect the person receiving the messages in a negative manner. I think that some of what I have described above could fall into a description of "defense mechanisms" as described by Freud (in respect to the ego).

I think that people shouldn't be taken seriously when they are obviously angry, as their brains are working in a completely different manner than they would be if they were calm and collected. Hate is often born out of anger, rather than conscious thought, and as such, should not always be accepted as truth.

My opinion on a "frustrated individual" is: you have my empathy. Nothing worse than being frustrated, except for being frustrated and alone with that feeling.

As to what that has to do with truth......

Sometimes things like the truth or honest opinions spill out when people become frustrated because they can't express themselves.

But that's not really a good thing, it would be better if the truth could just flow openly.

It's just truth after all.
