Sorry, but you won't be able to watch dvd on CD drive. You'll need a DVD drive to do that. You can watch vcds or svcd on your drives. Are you sure they are cd-rom drives not dvd-rom drives? Unless you have a really really old PC, one of your drive should be a dvd-rom drive. Put in a dvd and open Window Media to see if it can play the dvd. If it can't then you have a cd-rom only.

Smedrick's answer may have been short and to the point but she is right. You need a DVD drive to play DVDs on your PC.
You probably have a CDROM and a CD burner on your PC? Some people are set up that way. You can probably replace either CD drive with a DVD drive or DVD burner. Your local CompUSA, Best Buy, or other computer store could help you with that.
Another option if you do not want to have to open the PC is to add an external DVD drive. If you have a USB 2.0 slot available on the PC, there are a variety of external drives that you can get to attach to the existing PC that are compatible with Windows XP.
I use an HP Lightscribe and it came with cool software that lets me make my own DVD slideshows of family pictures set to music.

You are going to have to purchase a DVD rom drive, these are NOT expensive. Since you have TWO CD-ROM drives you should REMOVE one and replace it with the DVD rom. This is a very simple proccess.
Here is a good place to look for DVD roms.
As cheap as $24, and you don't have to wait for delivery .

A cd drive won't do. You need a DVD drive. Verify that your CD drives are only CD drives. Many DVD drives have multiple capabilities (CD-R, CD+R, DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.).
If your cd drives don't have DVD capability, you'll have to open up your wallet and spend on some hardware.

Are you sure one isn't a DVD combo drive. Um I really don't know there might be some programs but CD-ROM drives aren't as fast as DVD Drives.

You need a DVD drive. You cannot watch a DVD on a CD drive.
Check the front of the tray on both. if either says "DVD" in the plastic, you are good.
For software, I use VLC. A very good player that reads DVD's quite well.

Our CD/DVD RW stress had an same problem, we ended up purely replacing it. in case you've had it for various years, it may nicely purely be on the way out and needs replacing. If no longer...i do not imagine the project will be solved by a question on Yahoo! solutions, you'll choose someone gazing your workstation who ought to be certain the way it replaced into set up and so on.
