How did you decide to be a vegitarian? Did a famous person cause your choice or was it because you saw the suffering of an animal or was it because you loved a pet? Should I be a vegitarian because my girlfriend expects it of me because I am lesbian and who is a good vegitarian roll model for me?

Do what feels right to you. :P You can still enjoya vegetarian meal with your girlfriend even though you still eat meat at other meals. Don't just do something that may make you feel different in another light to the one you love. Just be yourself.

Slowly cut the meat out of your diet if that is something you want to do. (example-some people cut out red meat first, then white meat, etc...some people go as drastic as cutting out all animal byproducts in their diet thus making them a vegan.)

Good luck in whichever path you choose.

Don't do it just because your partner does. But look into it and do your research, find out the benefits from it. I'm not a complete vegetarian, but I don't eat much of it anymore, chicken is loaded with hormones, beef is high in calories, fish has mercury, etc., so i try to stay away from it. If you choose to go vegetarian you will need to learn how to eat balance meals because meet contains calcium and protein which is very important.

Sounds to me like you just shouldn't be one. Vegetarianism is something you should believe in yourself. Don't do it just to make your girlfriend happy and you shouldn't need a role model either. Do it because of your own beliefs or don't do it at all.
