how your first name will "fit" as you get older? You know how some names seem "old" or "young"? For example, to me, names like Edna, Josephine, Gertrude sound like old person names. Where as Kaylie, Ashley, or Julie seem like little girl names. Can you picture an old lady named Crystal or Tammy?

I agree some names can go either way - I just hear some of these names people pick for their kids today and I think, wow when this guy is like 75 he might not like being called Skyler or Jordan or Dakota or whatever.

Thats so funny. I just had this conversation with my niece the other day. When shes 90 years old and people are calling her Tiffany, its gonna sound funny. My name can be for either old or young (My name is girl too) Or at least my real name means girl.

You know, I was thinking the same thing over the years, how some names sound old and young. Tommy would be a name too young for an old man to me. ^_^

Good point. I think about that a couple times a week, and some names DO sound old or young. i think it's a time period thing. Like, my mom's name is Jeannette, but she's always gone by her middle name. When she was a kid (hard to believe), she might have gone by Jean or something.

You are right!.
Unfortunately I grew up where is was tradition to name children after their grandparents. Sp the names got older and older. I gave myself a nickname which thank goodness is neither young nor old.

Yeah, I've thought about it before. I don't know how mine will fit though. To be honest I have always thought of Tammy as an old person's name, I don't know why.

Yes, my mothers name is Linda and I can't picture a little baby being named that. I think that's why you should pick a timeless name.
