Two things you can do. The first thinhg you can do is have the team not pass to him at all. The second thing is ask the coach to teach him a lesson by making it 4 vs 1. 4 being your team and 1 being the ball hog. Only then will he learn to value of teamwork. Basketball is not a one man show.

What age group are you?

I coach 3rd-12th graders boys and girls....

alot of time it is the parents that have been telling Jr. that they are the next coming of MJ.....I have experienced that....what is the talent level of the kid? any good? here is what I would try.....and it has worked....become Mr. assist to this kid ...feed him the rock every time and then make sure you make a big deal out of his scoring....it sounds like he is a little insecure or doesnt trust the rest of ya....once he gets comfortable with you being his assist man pull him aside and tell him.... now that the defense is keying on you (ball hog) as the #1 guy pass it around to the others and make the defense work....it will open up more shots for you and FOR HIM....try it and let me know

keep your chin up.... MJ got cut his 10th grade year so there is hope!

Have fun basketball rocks!

Yeah, talk to your teammates and freeze him out (don't pass to him). Most of the time, players like that prefer to run the point or be on the wing and be the first option. So, make sure you or another teammate is at the top of the key so you can run the offense in another direction. Also, players like that usually like to run and push the ball in a full court game. When you get a rebound, just give it to another point guard and slow the tempo down. Ignore him when he takes off and signals for the ball. When he yells at you, that's when you yell back and tell him he doesn't pass the ball. You can't change players like that...look at Starbury.

Have a decent talk with him. If that doesn't work try stealing the ball from him and being a ball hog to him. Try showing him what it's like to be wide open and not get passed to.

Don't pass the ball to him that much instead of letting him shoot the ball all the time pass it to th other players and if he is a good rebounder let him guard the big guy so he has to box him out to get the rebound.

Talk to him. If that doesn't work ask your coach for some support. Physically assaulting him, though tempting, is usually not the most effective way to get a guy to pass the ball.

My advice either you not be scared and talk to the kid yourself or talk to the coach. Don't just wait for him to stop being a ball hog TAKE ACTION.

HOPE THE BEST FOR YOU

GOD BLESS

Are you talking about my brother?? hehe.. Talk to him 1-on-1 Itll be much more effective if you dont call him out in front of everyone, if that doesnt want talk to the coach!

I find that usually a quick sarcastic / confronting comment usually works. Try just saying something like "When are you gonna pass?" or "Your not the only player".

have the player be by himself on offense and have everybody else on defense and then when he cant do it by himself tell him thats why you have to pass the ball
