I love all sorts of music and have tried to listen -- it is quite distressing not to be able to bear anything but silence, can anyone help me find some insight into this?

My new favorite band is Bad Astronaut. It has the singer from Lagwagon, and members of Sugarcult. They remind me of a lot of the post-grunge alternative stuff that was popular in the mid 90s, with a little more of a punk rock influence.

If you like punk and hip hop, you should check out Whole Wheat Bread. They're from my home town (Jacksonville, FL). They're the world's first dirty south punk rock band.

Another good hip hop group is The Flobots from Denver.

If you're into indie rock you should check out MInus The Bear or Born In The Flood.

Turn the radio off and be alone with your thoughts. I think sometimes people feel like they have to be listening to the TV or radio when it's actually nice to just be in peace!

Just a suggestion but maybe try listening to something that's in your CD collection that doesn't really mean anything to you. I've heard a lot of songs that didn't really mean anything to me but then years later I heard something significant in them.

Try something completely different from what you normally listen to.

For example, if you're in to death metal, a spot of Mozart can do wonders.
