It only happens in the winter...outside (so not in the gym), wearing wool or a new coat that has a silk lining. It obviously is static electricity...so I really want to know how to be able to listen to my ipod in the winter with my coat on ...without shocks!

i think they make anti-static spray that you can apply to your clothes. i wouldn't waste time spraying it on the ipod. i get shocked a lot getting out of my car. i've found that if i touch my keys to the car 1st, it lessens the pain quite a bit. most of the pain seems to come from the spark itself, which is actually quite hot. you might try wrapping your ipod in foil or keeping it in a pouch or something that has anti-static properties. a lot of electronics come in anti static bags. i bet you could get one for free at a computer store. computer parts almost always arrive in anti static bags. good luck.

It's static, as you say, and probably made worse by a reaction between the fibre in your clothes and the foam rubber around the earpieces. Try covering the earpieces with something else, for example light cotton bandage. You'll still be able to hear but hopefully the cotton won't conduct or create static. I get static shocks all the time in winter, so I know how horrible it can be, especially in your ears! YUK! Good luck.

it particularly is static, as you're saying, and in all probability made worse by making use of a reaction between the fibre on your clothing and the foam rubber around the earpieces. attempt conserving the earpieces with some ingredient else, as an social amassing ordinary cotton bandage. you will nonetheless be waiting to pay interest yet hopefully the cotton won't habit or create static. i'm getting static shocks continually in wintry climate, so i know how adverse it particularly is, exceptionally on your ears! YUK! sturdy luck.
