My oldest was 4mths. and my youngest was 6wks., she had GERD(Acid Reflux). The doctors told me to give her a small amount with her formula to help keep her milk down.

It varies for everyone. When you baby seems to be eating all the time and not getting full (or is eating more than 24 oz of fluid a day). Mix some with breast milk or formula (so it is almost water) and try it out (always use a spoon and never a bottle with a big hole in the nipple). I started my baby on rice cereal when she was just over 6 months old.

Read the instructions on the cereal box. Should have age-based instructions. I think my guys were about 4 months old for the rice cereal.

My son NEVER ate rice cereal. it has no real nutritional value and has less calories than a baby needs to maintain growth. My kids both started on solids, by grabbing my food, around 6-7 months. Vegetables are a preferred first food, as they have bioavailable nutrients, not just chemicals added to a highly processed grain.

My baby was 5 months-- the doctor gave me the "okay". I followed the instruction on the box for the first feeding. After that, 2 or 3 scoops (formula scooper).
