We are all pushed to recycle and save as much of our vital resorces as we can yet the american goverment is going to start a moon base (WHY) what benefit will it have to us apart from been a safe haven for the big knobs when the earth is gone.Why when people are starving to death do the the americans still want to live the dream. ,are'nt any of you ashamed by the way you refuse to help the rest of us save the planet.We are all expected to save fuel while they burn the stuff as if it it were infinitie

You Stephen are a luddite, space exploration is about making the earth more viable as a place to live, not less. The fuel they use in rockets is not petroleum, it is liquid oxygen, yes it requires a lot of energy to produce, but the point is to extend our boundaries and hopefully find other perhaps virtually limitless sources of power. For example solar power can only be best harnessed in space where there is not atmosphere to block it. We know that there are only finite resources on this planet so why deny ourselves the possibility of finding alternatives by investing all of this money on a planet that is being used up

Also think about technologies which people use every day like ball point pens, teflon, velcro etc. which we wouldn't have if man hadn't left the ground (aviation) and then made the next logical step into space

1.It's impossible to feed all those starving people anyway
2.We, as a country, need to do something positive that creates jobs and promotes good will.
3.We need a moon base.
