Merry Christmas...always! The 4th of July is a holiday, Memorial Day is a holiday, Thanksgiving is a holiday, etc. Christmas is Christmas...HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!

It depends on the situation. If it's people you know or even people you are fairly sure are Christian, Merry Christmas.
If it's people you've never met and you live in rural Nebraska where there are not many Jews, you're pretty safe with Merry Christmas.
If you live in a major city where lots of people come from different backgrounds, your best bet is Happy Holidays unless you know for sure.
I am Jewish. I say Merry Christmas to anyone I know who isn't Jewish, Happy Hanukkah to anyone who is, and Happy Holidays to most others. IF someone says Merry Christmas, I don't correct them. I say, "you, too." The sentiment is there even if one size doesn't fit all.

Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate, but if a see an stranger with a pin or some sort of decoration of a different holiday, I will say Happy Holidays just to be nice.

Merry Christmas. I choose to keep the Christ in Christmas. I do not care for politically correctness with this time of year. My opinion.
